Iman Shares Photo of David and herself on 'what would have been' their wedding anniversary

On what would have been the couple’s 24th wedding anniversary, Iman shared a photo with David Bowie. The artist passed away in January following an 18-month battle with cancer. For her first anniversary without her husband, Iman posted a black-and-white candid of the model and singer shot by Bruce Weber for Vogue, the image reads, “The best thing about me is you.”

The pair tied the knot in 1992 (first in a private civil ceremony in April in Switzerland) after meeting on a blind date two years before. The official nuptials were held in Italy, and while known for their daring fashion choices, both kept things classic to say, “I do.”

Iman opted for a halter-neck custom gown from Hervé Leger. The form-fitting dress featured a long train jutting off the waist, and she accessorized with pearl and diamond drop earrings and long satin gloves. Her hair was dramatic, with long waves down to her behind, styled in a half-up-half-down ‘do. “I wanted something very simple, elegant, no frills, no fashion, no gimmicks. Something that would outlast anything,” she said.

As for Bowie, he opted for a Thierry Mugler tuxedo complete with tails. “I asked my good friend Thierry Mugler, who has been designing my suits for a good few years now, to do a variation on traditional tails,” the “Ziggy Stardust” artist said. “He has done a delightful job. I think it looks quite dashing. I know Mugler likes it, but Mugler likes everything he designs, and nine times out of 10, so do I.”
A beautiful couple...Many thanks Iman
