Death Toll Rises to Eight in Salon Shooting - California

Eight people have now been confirmed dead after a gunman opened fire at a hairdresser in Los Angeles. The gunman was identified as Scott Evans Dekraai, 42, the ex-husband of one of the victims. An eye witness said the man's ex-wife, named Michelle, worked at the salon and had taken out a restraining order against him.
"He shot his wife, then he pointed the gun at Randy (another stylist). Then Randy turned around and  the man shot Randy and then I ran ... I just saw one gun, but it didn't stop. The gun just kept going," the witness told KNX radio.

Bowles said, "Upon arrival we found six confirmed deceased people, along with three critically injured parties, which were transported to a local hospital." Two of the injured later died from their injuries. He said there were "fatalities throughout the salon," which was full at the time. The shooting occurred around 1:30pm LA time at Salon Meritage, a beauty salon located along the Pacific Coast Highway, south of Los Angeles.

"It just caught everyone off guard and people started running outside to see what was happening," Zach Benson, who was working at a nearby restaurant, told KNBC-TV. "It was a very bizarre scene."The suspect was described as "heavy set with a beard" and may have been wearing body armour, KNBC reported. He was detained in a white pickup truck less than a mile from the crime scene, during a traffic stop. Police ordered the man out of the truck and he did not resist arrest.Multiple weapons were found inside the vehicle, police said.

Seal Beach, an upscale community in Orange County, California, saw only one homicide last year and none during the previous three years, according to statistics provided by the Seal Beach Police Department. Is this another case where there were red flags all over the place and nobody noticed them?
