Michael Douglas : "80 Percent Chance" of Beating Throat Cancer

Michael Douglas talked for the first time about his cancer  on the  "Late show with Dave Letterman ,' the Associated Press reports.  The actor told the audience he's in the middle of an "eight (8) week struggle" against throat cancer but is hopeful about his chance for recovery.
Douglas revealed that he was diagnosed three weeks ago though he'd complained of a sore throat at one point earlier this year. Testing at the time didn't find a cause for the pain. When he returned to the doctor after a summer of travling with his wife  Catherine Zeta-Jones and their two kids Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta, he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer , "which is intense , and so they've had a go at it,"he said.
When the actor revealed to Letterman that he'd just finished his first week of radiation and chemotherapy , the talk show host was visibly surprised . "You've never looked better to me , and this proves  that you're a tough guy, for God's sakes," Letterman said.
The Wall Street : Money Never Sleeps' actor said his cancer has remained above the neck which is good news - he said this means there is an 80 percent  or better chance of recovery.
Douglas has won three (3) Golden Globes and two (2) Academy Awards , first as a producer of 1975's best picture, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and as Best Actor in 1987 for his role in 'Wall Street.' Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement  Award in 2009.
Douglas will next be seen onscreen reprising his role as disgraced moneyman Gordon  Gekko in the anticipated sequel 'Wall Street 2 : Money Never Sleeps,' due out September 24.
Good luck to you Michael ....all your fans are rooting for you.

  22. Did you know bedbugs are back and they are practically an epidemic or a plague in North America. We are not using very strong insecticides any more and the bedbugs are laughing at it. Exterminators are having a field day.

Yes the bed bugs is back in full force, I am doing everything I can to keep them out...I put soda on the bed before I put the sheets on, that's what they did years ago.

I have to watch for head lice, some people don't keep their kids heads clean...but I check mine daily.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous10:33:00 PM

I guess you notice...we use soda for most everything.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Soda is very useful. We don't get too many bug problems up here. They might start in summer but the winter kills everything.

  28. Anonymous10:40:00 PM

Why is it some people don't have good hygiene any more...I can't stand funk it will make you want to puke.
Sweetie, I always get that long ass bastard back.

  29. All I would have to do is put the matresses outside for an hour in winter and they would be frozen stiff.. But they have announced there is an outbreak of bedbugs in the county. I don't believe I have ever heard of them up here but Nana says they were common in the last century all over the world.

    .

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anonymous10:43:00 PM

It don't stay cold long enough here to kill the bugs.
It's below freezing a couple of days and then up in the 60/70's in the winter.

With this crazy weather, I would believe anything.

NAN's daughter is name Anita so when I tell you something about her I will tell you NAN's kid.

I hope they didn't bring the damn crime up there with them...at least 4/5 gets killed here every week.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Brian overdid it today. He went in to work. They needed help because a lot of people are taking holidays. Since our summer is extending into autumn now and it is still hot, People are taking later vacations.
He wants to be a volunteer driver for the handicapped. Apparently they are short of drivers. It would be great for him. Only a few hours a week and he would still feel useful and needed. He needs that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous11:02:00 PM

At 86 , Nana can be as nasty as 2/3barricudas...she has earned the right.
Nana is not along, Dad will be back soon and you ask him why do a person get mean/nasty when they reach a certain age.
Now he's a mean/nasty barricuda and he enjoys it very much.

  52. I had a talk with Brian about taking care of himself. He is going to get serious about preserving his life. If his CT scan shows the cancer from the kidney hasn't spread to his other kidney or his liver or anywhere else, I think he will get more optimistic about living. Attitude is everything.

Sweetie...I'm at odds about Dad no one ever took care of his business but his son and I know he won't ask him to go because of me...
When Dad has to return to finish his business I may tell Gil to go, I know if Gil had gone they would be back now.
What you think, it's his daddy and Dad don't trust to many people with his affairs.
I can feel Dad wants him out there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anonymous11:45:00 PM

I am so glad you had the talk, you two needs each other.
I know you so well and I know you would dry up like a tumble weed and blow away with the wind if anything happen to him.
Tell Brian he's a fighter and nothing has stopped him yet..
    They are finding cures everyday.

  55. Your gut is giving you the right message honey. Gil should be there to guide his dad. He's a very old man to be travelling back and forth. You gotta love him for trying to handle it all by himself out of love and respect for you.

    ReplyDelete
  56. You're right about finding cures every day.Have you heard of a diabetic drug called Metphormin? I'm not sure of the spelling.
Anyway they have found that it prevents and cures certain cancers.
Researchers in Canada discovered it and the drug is so cheap. It would only cost them 42 cents a day for the cure.
