Marrying a Younger Man May Shorten Your Life

Attention Demi: Ashton could be harmful to your health. A recent study suggests marrying a younger man may actually shorten a woman's life. Led by researcher Sven Drefahl, a team in Germany examined the records of two million Dutch couples. They found that a seven- to nine-year age gap between a husband and wife caused a woman's mortality rate to increase by 20 per cent.

But that doesn't mean marrying an older man is any better. Older spouses also seem to shorten a woman's life expectancy. The only women who seemed 'safe' from the statistics were ones who married men of the same age, give or take two years. Ironically, the study found the opposite to be true for men, indicating those who marry younger women actually live longer. The research supports the long-held notion that a younger spouse provides psychological and social benefits for men, and those who select younger partners can do so because they're healthier and predisposed to live longer.

Drefahl isn't sure why there was a huge discrepancy between sexes and mortality rates, but ventured a guess."One of the few possible explanations is that couples with younger husbands violate social norms and thus suffer from social sanctions," said Drefahl. The 'outsiders' stigma associated with these 'cougar' couples may lead to less social support and a more stressful life, increasing the risk of illness and ultimately death. In light of these findings, should women ditch marriage altogether? Not necessarily. The study indicates married people still live longer than single people and that women in general outlive men by two years.

As in all things that relate to both male and female sexes, it isn't fair. It isn't fair that an older husband, younger wife is accepted but an older wife, younger husband is not socially acceptable. Let's change that shall we??

I agree that we should get rid of all these researches and do someting positive that will be a benefit to all.
Demi was married to Bruce Willis and wasn't happy for a long time.
Look at her now she's looking and happy.
If by being a cougar makes you look that good Demi, I for one says go for it.
As for me...Mr. Sven Drefahl the researcher, I'm married to an older guy, it's not the age different that matters, it's the love and if you have anything in common with each other.
Love don't ask for proof of age, just if you have the chemistry for each other.Age is not an important factor, some men / women matures faster than others. I got a sugar daddy and loving it and the dangle don't bend in the middle.[giggles]
    But, hey, that's just me.

PIC...so glad to hear you had a great weekend and enjoyed the party, I know you will miss Jason but he'll do well.
I laughed when you said he never stops talking or moving around. I remembered when you said he talked so fast til he would give Brian a headache. I laughed because I know Brian will miss him too.

The get-together went very well...I made the pink strawberry cake and they went wild over it...one man said he didn't know if he should eat it or just look at it. It was 6 couples in all, 3 from the office and 3 others.
As you know we had to invite Leon & Betts . The ladies wanted the recipe if I didn't mind...I said sure. Betts told them I had a lot of them, a lady from Canada sends them to Dad. Betts said tell them about the blog you two have, I wanted to slap her face.
But I told her this was not the time or place , they was here on business, I gave the ladies my sweetest smile and said I would make them copies if they wanted them, they could get with me later.
They left around 1:am and I told Betts after they left she needed to learn a little about what Leon do and stop acting like the idiot / fool she was, Leon asked me would I help her and I told him hell no I had my own babies to teach and Betts was 54 years old and I don't think you can teach an old dog new tricks.
I made the bread pudding and it's really good, I think I will keep some on hand to drink with coffee in the morning, shit Dad will just put it up for him and Gilly.

I will meet you on the bread pudding recipe...I missed you too..PIC

I don't think Leon / Betts have had many dinner parties, she wants to just talk about her and interested in anything they had to say. She wanted the ladies to look up to her, I excused myself to get ice and asked her to help me and I gave her a piece of my mind.

  33. Anonymous11:10:00 PM

They still want to nit-pick about stuff that don't mean nothing and they have their lawyers from Reno and one of the guys once worked for Gil there and wanted to know if he needed help here..
Gil told them he had everything on the table and thats the way its going to be and walked out.

  34. Jakey is not keen on hockey ,although he plays mini sticks which is a small version of hockey played with little hockey sticks. He gets a little bored being a spectator. He does like track and field.

  35. Sounds like Gil is in control now. All the hysterics and panic are under control now.He sounds like he is calling all the shots.

    I think Betts embarrass Leon

Betts asked me why I didn't have Mamie stay and serve...I told her Mamie had a family and I wanted everyone to be comfortable.

  38. I think Betts thinks above her station in life. She likes to be waited upon by servants to prove to herself that she is better than them.Frankly ,she doesn't sound too bright.

  39. Anonymous11:23:00 PM

Gil told them nothing is solved by yelling at each other and he don't give a damn, if the business go under his dad will always have someone to care for him.
He said they may as well get ready because Dad and aunt Mae is going to get theirs and the longer thay hold out the more money they will have to spend, because his time is valuable.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous11:26:00 PM

You got that right ...she is a dumb cluck, Nan told her they had to talk me into hiring Mamie.
Betts told me once Mamie should be here cleaning house instead of following me around and holding Gilly.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous11:33:00 PM

Betts wants a maid but Leon says no she has nothing else to do, she has no kids so it should be easy to care for her house.
I have 3 kids running round here and I still can care for my house without help.My babies lives all over the house but they know to pick up their stuff.

  44. We've all had household staff at various times. But we've never asked them to hover over us at the table. My dad was raised by the staff when his mother died and his dad ignored him. They became members of our family.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous11:37:00 PM

I think so too..Gil wouldn't have got in their face if they wasn't talking about his gold digging wife and her family, he never raises his voice but you can tell the anger in him by looking at his eyes.

The Major needed a woman's touch like all boys and his dad probable lost in his grief after losing the Major's Mother.
Of couse she was like a member of your family. Lot of time I asked Mamie to go to the market just to get her out my hair. She's a great help.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous11:47:00 PM

Dad told Mamie if she worked here she would have to sleep with him, that woman called in sick for a week , dad just laughed and told me what he did and I told her he was teasing her. Dad is a hoot.

  48. When Nana and the major were pursuing their careers we had to have people taking care of the house and grounds and the laundry. Like you, Nana always did the cooking. My dad seldom liked anyone else's food.

I have hired people to help me when I couldn't handles things but we have a much smaller property now.I want someone to take care of Nana but she sure is hard to convince.

  49. The old housekeeper became like a mother to my dad and the daily became like a big sister.

  50. Anonymous11:56:00 PM

It's nothing wrong in having help, most people rather have someone to help them keep their homes and kids while they work and thats nice and I'm all for it.
I too, think you need someone to help with Nana and maybe Nana will see it soon, your immune system is not good and you wear yourself down, it's a little different now since Brian was ill and you haven't had time to really recoup.
Gil don't want Mamie cooking for us either, men or a funny lot.

Just because they work for us that don't mean they are not as good as us.

  53. Brian has become like that. He prefers my cooking to anyone else's
and to tell the truth PIC I'm not a great cook.I'm not that crazy about it.I'd rather scrub something.

  57. I better log off now.Busy day tomorrow. I had the lawns aerated and fertilized today. And I had the landscape guys dig up all the flower beds. Tomorrow I go to the nursery and buy a bunch of flowers and plants and pretend I'm a serious gardener.I love it.
The major was the best green thumb. He would just poke a hole in the dirt with his finger, stick something in it and walk away and I swear all those plants were healthier and bigger than all my complicated methods.

  58. I forgot to tell you how Maxy liked the party. He went begging to everyone there. He did his little act where he holds up one paw like it's been hurt and gazes soulfully into your eyes like he hasn't been fed in weeks. It works every time and they gave him so much he's still sleeping it off.He hasn't even been out for RP and you know how he loves it.
