Katherine, Read your comment about being a friend to Dave,that I can understand ,what I don't understand is you keep telling us have known him a long time. Do you mean you were there when he was with Rachel/Paris/Marg.Liza/Amina and lord knows who else. Jeannie and I knew who Vix was and that she was sick,she needed help,she also was full of hate ,but only toward one person and that was Dave,It seems to me Dave is out to destroy all the women he comes in contact with. We had a friend that dropped by ever so often,she would tell Vix things,and she was also a good listener to Dave also,she would tell us things,just enough to keep Vix interested.She told us a lot of stuff,but she really was telling us nothing,it seem to me she wanted to find out things about Dave. As you know the movie business is booming down here ,my man's firm handles a lot of their business,thats how I met Abe,he and Dave have been friends since NYPD Blue. I realize you said he was hurt badly,thats not an excuse to act like an arse,I also know how it feels to be hurt by someone you care for, I didn't let it sour me on men,I was given a second chance at happiness,Dave will never do/be better by just listening to him,it is time to give him a whats up and some tough love if you really care for your friend. But hey, thats just me.
Oh I am not making any excuses for behavior. We all have been hurt badly by people in life and although we don't let it get to us, it does cloud our judgements abit...makes it just a touch harder to trust the next person to come along.
I live by the rule of treat people how you would want to be treated and even though I have been hurt alot I certainly don't treat people like dirt, but I guess sometimes bad behavior is just that...bad.
Sometimes it is the result of underlying emotional issues, so people act out badly. I know just listening isnt enough, but that is how I am made. Although I realize that I am going to eventually have to say something or give him the what fors so to speak. I cannot make him take my suggestions, but be damn sure he will listen...lol
